rodent trapping Winston Salem's Best Rodent Removal: As with most journeys, ours started with a single simple step. Most shows may give a comedic effect to rats but the reality is that rats can do a lot of damage to a household or business whether it be because of health regulations or chewed wires which can lead to failures in machines that would then require replacements. In some cases, these repairs can cost a lot more when spread over a long period of time and that's what made us realize a way we could help others. So, without further ado, the head of our company started leading a small group to help clear out the rats from various places. As time passed and our business grew, we were happy not only with how we managed to grow our skills but also because we could meet new people and ensure that they would have an easier time after we were done. Such a mentality created the core of our team and they strive towards customer satisfaction as much as a job well done. Of course, we don't think our current position is the end and will continue to grow and develop new techniques and relations. With new technologies coming out every day, we're confident that we will be able to deal with any situation which comes our way and our skills will continue to grow as we do and our clients would hopefully be as satisfied as we are as we continue to do our best.

Winston Salem Rodent Removal Tip:

What Is the Largest Size A Rat Can Get to Be?
Compared to their cousins, the mouse, rats are enormous. But for many people, that's already far too big. The thought of rats growing bigger and bigger is enough to send a shiver down their spine. Typically, when we think of rats, we refer to the Norway rat or ‘Rattus norvegicus'. These rats grow to an average of 8 inches. While that's enough to give you a shock if it scurries through your kitchen, it's not even close to most giant rats in the world.

For that, we need to take a look around the globe.

Roof rats
Roof rats are amongst the smallest of the common rats. Measuring 5 to 10 ounces or more. Their bodies are, usually, around 13 to 18 inches long, with a further 11cm or more for their tail. These rats only live one year, which significantly limits the size they can attain. There's also the question of food. Without adequate nutrition, like all animals, roof rats cannot grow as large as possible.

Norway rats
Next up is the common Norway rat. These rats weigh around 7 to 10 ounces, with bodies reaching much bigger than their average, totaling 20 inches or more. With an 11cm tail, that's quite a length. Being longer-lived than roof rats – lasting up to two years – they have substantially more time to grow. Down in the sewers and amongst the dumpsters, there's also plenty of food going around.

That's why in New York City, some of the most gigantic Norway rats ever recorded have been spotted. A study of these rats found a limit of around 2 pounds, with the biggest catch weighing 1 ½ pounds.

rodent trapping The largest Norway rat ever recorded was found, surprisingly, in sleepy England. In Bournemouth, Devon, one man caught a rat that measured a whopping 21 inches in length. However, experts queried if the rat hadn't bred with another larger species, such as the South American swamp rat.

Gambian pouch rats
Found almost exclusively in its native Africa, this is one of the largest species in the world. On average, these rats weigh far more than even the biggest Norway rats, coming in at an astonishing three pounds and three feet in length (tail included).

In recent years, the population of Gambian pouch rats has been growing in the Florida Everglades. Attempts to control the population have been met with no success. Considering the remarkable success of other invasive rat populations worldwide, there seems to be no chance of eradicating the population. The Gambian pouch rat is coming to a town near you.

Indeed, a four foot and 25-pound giant rat was found in a playground in the UK. Some claim this to be a Gambian pouch rat, while others believe it to be the result of a camera illusion. Chances are it was the latter.

Giant Asian rats
Amongst the islands of Indonesia, the world's largest rats roam. The Sumatran bamboo rat measures 19.7 inches from nose to tail, weighing up to 8.8 pounds. Meanwhile, the Northern Luzon giant cloud rat may hold the title for the biggest rat in the world measuring 2.5 feet in length and weighing 5.7 pounds.

Controlling rat size
To control the size of rats in your area, use some simple facts. Without food or water, they can't grow to inordinate sizes. Keep hedges and bushes trimmed so that predators can find them. At worst, hire an exterminator. In a few short hours, they'll sort out your rat infestation and advise on avoiding such situations in the future.
